Hearing Instrument Technology:

If a hearing aid device is warranted, our hearing aid specialists will focus upon four major components regarding improvement in communication:

  1. We will seek maximal improvement in your understanding of conversational speech, both in quiet and noisy listening environments.
  2. The least visible, most comfortable, and best hearing aids options appropriate for your hearing loss will be presented.  We will also strive to fit you with the most affordable hearing aids, while still maintaining the best fit for your particular profile.
  3. Hearing aid devices compatible with other media and communication devices; including home and office telephones, cell phones, television, music/entertainment (music ear plugs), and Bluetooth technology; will be discussed where appropriate and available.
  4. Amplification specific to your social and communicative requirements will be recommended, with cost containment fully considered for the most affordable hearing aids appropriate for your situation.

Among the various hearing instruments dispensed by our professional staff, are the following:

  • Completely-In-the-Canal (CIC) devices are the newest and smallest style available in the hearing aid market today.  They are nearly invisible, because they fit deeply into your ear canal.
  • In-the-Canal (ITC) hearing aid devices also fit into your ear canal, and are nearly as unnoticeable as the CIC models.
  • In-the-Ear (ITE) hearing devices fit into the outer ear and are among the most widely recommended styles by hearing health care professionals.
  • In Behind-the-Ear (BTE) devices, the receiver, microphone and amplifier are contained in a relatively small, thin unit, which is worn behind the ear.  Sound travels from the receiver through plastic tubing (matched to your skin tone) to the custom-fit earmold worn in the ear.  In some cases, current BTE technology has become so small that they are among the least visible of all available hearing instruments.

Musicians' Filtered Hearing Protection (music ear plugs):

We offer custom-fitted musician filtered ear molds (music ear plugs), which will provide hearing protection while still allowing you to benefit from unchanged balance of frequencies from all musical sources.
